Update: Our new place

Our new place is coming together nicely.  Our workspace/office upstairs is nearing completion.  We have around three gigabytes of storage/backup space, and a new firesafe for keeping backups in.  We’ve added a few new comfy work chairs and are looking for a new desk.  Our new phone system and fax should be online in the next week or two.

We’ve also moved forward on improving our meeting/viewing/entertaining area downstairs.  While the area is wholely undecorated at this time, we have the layout completed.  We’ve ordered a new 52″ LCD TV, which should be great for image viewing and slideshows, due to it’s large size and excellent image quality.  It’ probably won’t be too bad for movies either ;)  We’ve also added the speakers purchased for our wedding reception to our entertainment system.

For those audiophile and videophiles out there (no, those aren’t dirty words), I’ll give you the details, as I’m very excited to have scored some amazing deals on the top-end products!  The TV is Toshiba’s current best, as well as largest, the 52XF550U.  They have an AMAZING deal at Costco on this TV. We picked this up as a wedding present to ourselves and our business. The speakers are Polk LSi25. They are a 3.5 way design, with ring tweeters and 10″ powered woofers. I haven’t been to big on Polk in the past, instead perferring brands such as Dynaudio and Morel (which have been moved to roles as surround speakers. The speakers, which are Polk’s flagship, have changed my opinion of the brand.  These speakers need tons of power to bring out the dynamics and soundstage, and are powered by an Anthem two channel power amp.

We’re Married!

Kristen and I had our wedding on July 19th. The wedding went beautifully!  Kristen looked amazing!  Everyone seemed to love the riverboat, and Mintahoe did an amazing job with the food.  We just got back from our honeymoon on Friday evening, just in time to shoot Angie and Ryan’s wedding on Saturday. We went to the Grand Palladium Colonial resort in the Rivera Maya. I highly recommend it.  The food was good, the beaches were amazing, and the whole resort complex was beautiful.

As of yesterday, things are back to normal at the office, and we are working to catch up on emails and phone calls from the last two weeks.

It’s a Party!

On Friday night, David and I are having our bachelor/bachelorette party. My sister Rebecca and our friend Shawn are the party planners for the evening’s events. My bridesmaids and I have an afternoon of fun planned. The activities include lunch, painting pottery, the craft store, and “bride/bridesmaid” shirt designing. The boys are going to be hanging out at the lake.

The party party kicks into full gear Friday evening. The guys and the girls are meeting up for a night out down town. Shawn has picked out a few fun places to go dancing for the evening. I’m pretty excited! Pictures of the craziness will be posted soon.

A flurry of blog posts and more on the “Heart of the City”

With a hectic June behind us, and an even more hectic July yet to come, we are trying to catch up on our blog post this week.  We’ve posted 3 of our most beautiful weddings yet, in Francis’s beautiful green Escada dress, Sunshine and Joshua’s emotional ceremony and beautiful floral arrangements, and Kara and Steve’s absolutely stunning wedding featuring the most beautiful head and cake table we’ve seen yet, an almost rediculous number of beautiful floral boquets and the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra.  More to come later this week, with two more amazing weddings from June are posted, the images and videos from our tornado-fest storm chasing days in Iowa and Kansas, and the pictures from several fun vacations we’ve been blessed to have.

We’re getting a little bit more setup in our new location.  Our lower level is still very much a blank canvas, but our office/work space on the second level is now fully functional!  Two new Sealy and Ikea office chairs replace our well-worn chairs, which have now been claimed by the cat!  We’re still going ahead with our plans the design the lower level as a great place for meetings and image viewings with your family.  We are in the process of making large prints to showcase our work in a gallery fashion, and have decided a 46-52″ LCD should make for fine viewing off your wedding images with friends and family.

Here’s a little bit more on our new location in Burnsville’s Heart of the City development.  The area includes a talented florist, several tasty restaurants, the International Chef’s Culinary Center (a banquet facility), Nicollet Commons Park (also a ceremony venue), and the yet-to-be-completed Burnsville Performing Art Center.

Kara and Steve’s Wedding

Date: May 31, 2008
Ceremony: University of Minnesota Arboretum, Chaska, MN
Reception: Minnesota Valley Country Club, Bloomington, MN
Musicians: Minnesota Jazz Orchestra

It was a hot day on May 31st for Kara and Steve’s outdoor wedding. The sun was shinning, and it was a beautiful day as Kara and Steve got married at the Arboretum. The ceremony took place beside a little pond in the Rose Garden, as guest enjoyed the flowers and trees that were all in bloom and the music of a string quartet.

The reception was a hit as the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra presented guests with four hours of the best jazz and big band music around. Great music, great food, and great friends. A perfect wedding for a perfect couple. Congrats Kara and Steve!
